GCSU Jazz Jam Sessions at Amici Milledgeville
Tuesday, October 17 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
The GCSU Jazz Jam Session is set to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 7-9 pm at Amici Café in downtown Milledgeville. The event is presented by Jazz at Georgia College and will be hosted by faculty and student jazz musicians. This jam session welcomes all members of the community who are interested in honing their jazz and improvisation skills. Attendees are encouraged to bring their instruments if they want to participate or simply come to enjoy the menu and live music at Amici Café. Organizers are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

One of the most misunderstood pianists of all time, Monk's style was deliberate and filled with soul and spirit. Monk's unique influences - Bebop, Ellington, and drums - helped shape the most recorded jazz composer of all time.
The Jazz Legacy Project Series
What is it?
Each program is roughly 90 minutes, with the goal of bringing the casual jazz listener inside the minds and music of the most influential and interesting American musicians of all time. The life and music of the artist/composer is entertainingly narrated by the drummer, Mr. Justin Varnes, and seminal jazz pieces are played to illuminate the narration. These are NOT tribute concerts in the sense that the musicians are trying to recreate the original performances, but instead to celebrate the essence and accomplishments of the particular artist.
