Good Morning!
The blueberries are ready. That's not a figure of speech - the bushes around Lake Country are heavy right now, and there's a narrow window every summer when you can go pick a bucket yourself and then sit down to a meal built out of what you just picked. That window is open, and it will not stay open long.
This is the fullest stretch of the year around here. The water's warm. The farmers market has taken over Friday night in downtown Eatonton. Watersports Central has the boards out for anyone who's decided this is the summer they finally get up on one. Saturday morning, Miss Neely is reading to a room full of kids at Tammy's shop in Eatonton, and there's an open seat at Cindy's mahjong table at Higher Ground.
Here's what I noticed putting this issue together: almost none of it is something you'd do by yourself.

FEATURED PROPERTY: 141 Grimes Road, Milledgeville
Most of what comes up for sale on Lake Sinclair was built decades ago and added onto ever since. This one is brand new, finished this year, and about as close to town as lakefront gets around here. You can run to the grocery store and be back before the boat's warmed up.
It's 3,020 square feet with four bedrooms and four full baths, vaulted ceilings in the living room, and a kitchen meant for actual cooking: gas cooktop under a vent hood, quartz counters, wall oven, built-in microwave. The primary suite is on the lakeside: double vanities, tile shower, walk-in closet - so the water is the first thing you see in the morning. Two more bedrooms, a bath, and the laundry are on the main level. Downstairs opens into a second living space with an ensuite bedroom and a flex room.
The part I keep coming back to is the porch. Vaulted wood ceilings, composite decking, and a wide deep cove that still gives you the main lake. From there it's a level, easy walk to a brand-new double boathouse and seawall.
Offered at $1,450,000.

The Jazz Legacy Project: Cole Porter
Thursday, August 6 · 7:30 – 9:00 PM
Ninety minutes of Cole Porter, played live and framed with the story of the man who wrote it. Drummer Justin Varnes narrates, and the approach here is worth knowing going in: the musicians aren't recreating the old recordings note for note, they're playing in the spirit of them. Porter's wit and those melodies you know without knowing you know them, handled by people who clearly love the material.

Hamilton Movie Night
Thursday, August 20 · 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton comes to the big screen at City Hall, the Pulitzer and Tony-winning musical that tells Alexander Hamilton's story through hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and Broadway. If you've only ever heard the soundtrack, seeing it performed is a different experience entirely. Worth the drive to Greensboro.
Lake Country Books & Gifts
Saturday, July 25 · 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Miss Neely is reading at Tammy's shop this Saturday morning, and it's an easy yes if you've got little ones. Stories, laughter, and an hour and a half in a bookstore that has always been good at making kids feel welcome. Browse the shelves while you're there — that's how a love of reading usually starts anyway.

WaterSports Central – 1101 Park Trace, Greensboro, GA
If you made it this far, somebody probably came to mind while you were reading. The friend who keeps saying she wants to learn mahjong. The neighbor with a four-year-old who'd love Saturday morning at Lake Country Books & Gifts. The couple who moved out here in the spring and still hasn't found the farmers market.
Forward this to them. That's the only thing I'm asking this week.
See you on the water,
Holly
