Good morning!

This week, we're celebrating the dads of Lake Sinclair and honestly, we've got something for every kind. The dad who deserves a little pampering. The dad who won't stop hinting about a new boat. The dad who wants nothing more than a quiet dock, a cold drink, and a fishing pole. And yes, the dad who could use a spa day even if he'd never admit it.

Before we dive in, mark your calendar for something big: Nick Montgomery is throwing a free, all-ages 4th of July Extravaganza at Oconee Springs Park: live music, kid activities, food trucks, and as the evening winds down, settle in to watch the fireworks that ring the lake on the 4th. It's going to be one for the books, and we've got details below.

Also on the horizon this week: Moonlight on Main with fireworks in Greensboro Friday night, a vintage cake decorating class at Tipsy Turtle Saturday evening (yes, you can decorate Dad a cake), a 55+ Active Adventure Travel seminar at Compassion Café on Wednesday, and EzTravel's monthly Coffee Chat on Thursday for anyone dreaming of a European getaway. Scroll down, there's a lot to love this week.

Nick Montgomery | Keller Williams

Making Waves is brought to us this week by Nick Montgomery of Keller Williams Lake Oconee and he's got something big on the horizon for Lake Sinclair this Fourth of July.

Nick is hosting America's 250th Anniversary Celebration at Oconee Springs Park, and it's shaping up to be the kind of evening you'll want the whole family there for. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. on July 4th for an afternoon of free activities, a massive water slide, face painting, games, and popcorn, followed by a concert featuring the Cool Water Kings and Fiddle in the Band, a premier Alabama tribute band. Then pack your cooler, find your spot on the water, and close out the night with fireworks right over Lake Sinclair.

Mark your calendar: July 4th, 4:00–10:00 p.m. | Oconee Springs Park, 109 Spring Street, Eatonton

Southern Laser Medical Spa

Father's Day is just around the corner, and if you're still looking for the perfect gift for the dad in your life, Southern Laser Medical Spa in Eatonton wants to help you think a little outside the box or the gift card rack.

Yes, dads go to the spa. And honestly? They should. Southern Laser isn't your average day spa, it's a medically-operated practice that's been serving Lake Country since 1998, with licensed RNs, an on-staff board-certified plastic surgeon, and treatments that actually do something. We're talking laser hair removal, body contouring, injectables, massage therapy, and more. Real results, no downtime, and a staff that knows what they're doing.

So whether Dad's been complaining about his back, or there's a certain someone who could use a little nudging toward self-care, Southern Laser makes it easy to give a gift that goes beyond the grill tools.

The Front Porch on Sinclair

If Dad's idea of a perfect Father's Day involves water, good food, and zero cooking, The Front Porch on Sinclair in Milledgeville might be exactly what you're looking for. This lakeside spot is earning serious buzz for its fresh food and laid-back vibe… early fans are already raving about the Bam Bam shrimp tacos and the Salmon BLT. Pulling up by boat? Call ahead at (478) 295-0351 and they'll come pick you up from the docks.

This Weekend at Lake Sinclair

This Father's Day weekend is packed with something for just about every kind of dad. Kick things off Friday evening at the Milledgeville Farmers Market (3–7 PM, 222 E. Hancock St.): fresh produce, handmade goods, and a laid-back start to the weekend. From there, head to Moonlight on Main in downtown Greensboro (7:30–9:30 PM) for live music and a fireworks finale, a worth-the-drive Friday night if there ever was one.

Saturday, bring the little ones out for the Children's Trolley Tour: Happy Birthday, America! (11:30 AM–12:30 PM, 200 W. Hancock St., Milledgeville): a fun, history-flavored ride aboard Milly the Trolley with storytelling, birthday cake, and ice cream for kids ages 3–12. Then, for the dads who like their history a little darker, the Haunting History Tour at the Georgia Lunatic Asylum runs Saturday evening (6–7 PM, Central State Hospital Museum, 736 Broad St., tickets required.

Of course, some dads are perfectly happy right where they are, pole in the water, nowhere to be. There's nothing wrong with that kind of Father's Day either.

Close out the weekend Sunday with brunch at Metropolis Café in downtown Milledgeville, open 11 AM–9 PM at 111 N. Wayne St., a relaxed, delicious way to let Dad know he's worth celebrating.

Editor’s Pick

Watersports Central

My Editor's Pick this week is for the dad who's been eyeing a new boat… or just likes to look.

WaterSports Central's Oconee location in Greensboro has an impressive lineup of new boats, from wake and surf boats to pontoons, ski boats, and everything in between. Brands like Nautique, Centurion, Harris, Chris Craft, Regal, and more are all on the floor and there's no pressure to do anything but browse. Think of it as window shopping with better scenery.

It's a great excuse to make the drive, let Dad do a little dreaming, and maybe kick the tires on something that would look awfully good out on Sinclair.

However your family chooses to celebrate this Sunday, I hope it's exactly what Dad wants, even if what he wants is just to sit on the dock and pretend he's catching something. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there making Lake Sinclair home. You're kind of a big dill. 🐟
