Good morning!

There's a certain feeling that settles over the lake this time of year, windows open, dock lines loose, the smell of someone's grill drifting across the cove on a Saturday afternoon. We're easing into the good stretch, and this week's issue has a little bit of everything to match the mood.

There's news I've been sitting on that I'm thrilled to finally share… something that's going to make summer on Lake Sinclair a whole lot easier for a lot of you. There's a free concert worth the drive over to Greensboro, mahjong popping up in two of my favorite local spots, coffee talks for the travel-curious, and a movie night that'll have you laughing right alongside the kids. Add in a self-guided mural tour, summer camp roundups, and a fresh commercial leasing opportunity, and you've got plenty to flip through.

Pour a cup of coffee or something cold (depending on when you’re reading), settle in, and let's get into it.

Making Waves is brought to you by Patty Burns and Trip Wilhoit at Fickling & Co.

If you've been waiting for the right spot to plant your business in Milledgeville, Patty and Trip have something worth a look this week: Village on Columbia Center is now leasing.

The property sits along North Columbia Street, one of Milledgeville's busiest commercial corridors and a route just about everyone in town travels on a regular basis. It's the kind of address where visibility does half the marketing work for you.

Available spaces include both retail and office layouts, with flexibility to fit a range of uses. The center already has a strong tenant mix in place, plenty of shared parking, and steady daily traffic that's hard to manufacture anywhere else in the area.

Whether you're expanding, relocating, or finally making the leap to your own storefront, this is a corridor that pulls customers in without you having to chase them.

Moonlight on Main Concert Series by Downtown Greensboro

Greensboro's Moonlight on Main summer concert series kicks off this Friday night, and the lineup is worth the drive over from the lake.

Mixtape takes the stage on North Main Street at 7 PM on Friday, May 15, bringing two solid hours of 80s and 90s hits to downtown. The whole evening is free, pull up a chair, grab a bite from one of the food trucks, or wander into a downtown restaurant for a drink and stroll back out to the music.

Costumes are encouraged. Neon, acid wash, flannel, scrunchies, whatever your throwback of choice, this is the night for it. Seating is limited, so toss a folding chair in the trunk before you head out.

Downtown Greensboro knows how to do a summer evening, and this is the kind of low-key, all-ages night out that makes the drive feel like part of the fun.

Freedom Boat Club Is Coming to Lake Sinclair

This one is big, friends. Around June 4, Freedom Boat Club opens its doors at Lake Sinclair Marina and it's going to change the way a lot of us think about getting on the water.

If you're not familiar, Freedom Boat Club is the oldest and largest boat club in the world. Membership gives you access to a fleet of well-kept boats without any of the headaches that come with ownership: no maintenance, no storage, no insurance, no scrubbing the deck at the end of a long day. The dock staff has the boat ready when you arrive. You step on, head out, and come back when you're ready. That's it.

The new Sinclair location will be owned and operated by Deano and Heather Cantrell, who have run Freedom Boat Club on Lake Oconee for the past 11 years. Their reputation over there speaks for itself, well-maintained boats, attentive service, and a genuine boating community. They're not new to this, they're just new to us.

Here's the part I love: one membership now covers both Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair. Two lakes, one card, endless Saturdays. Members also get reciprocal access to hundreds of Freedom Boat Club locations nationwide.

For membership info, reach out to David Leeseberg at 706-749-7600 or [email protected].

That's a wrap for this week, friends. If something in here made you smile, made plans for you, or made you text a neighbor, that's exactly what Making Waves is here to do. Forward it on, hit reply and tell me what you're up to, and I'll see you back here next week.

Until then, enjoy the lake,

Holly
